Latisse® in Charleston, SC
The eyes are one of the first facial features that people see. Women in Charleston, Summerville, and Daniel Island, SC, can grow long, thick lashes that frame their eyes using Latisse® prescribed by Dr. Brian G. Widenhouse, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Port City Plastic Surgery.
What is Latisse®?
Latisse® is the only FDA-approved prescription product and clinically proven to help inadequate lashes (hypotrichosis) grow longer, thicker, fuller lashes. With this treatment, you can say goodbye to lash extensions, lash inserts, and more. It will deliver lashes you can be proud of!
The active ingredient in the formula was initially used as an eye drop to treat glaucoma, but when patients started to notice improvements in their lower and upper eyelashes, it was then developed into a lash treatment as well.

Benefits of Latisse®
In addition to being the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment proven to stimulate hair growth and grow lashes, Latisse® offers the following benefits:
- Stronger lashes
- Longer Lashes
- Thicker lashes
- Prolong the active eyelash growth phase
- At-home treatments
Who is the Ideal Candidate for Latisse®?
Candidates for Latisse® treatments have sparse, brittle, or thin lashes that may not adequately grow.
What Do I Do to Prepare for Latisse®?
With Latisse®, it is important to apply the topical solution treatment on freshly washed eyelids free of any makeup. You will also want to ensure your contact lenses are removed.
How Does Latisse® Work?
Latisse® is applied at night along the lash line. It contains an active ingredient that makes lashes grow in the anagen phase (growth) of the active eyelash growth phase. This is done by increasing the length of time for the growth phase along with increasing the number of hairs in this phase. Latisse® is simply applied with a disposable brush across the upper lash line each night before going to sleep.
Some of the side effects of Latisse include dry eyes, eye irritation, itching, increased tears, and a change in eye or eyelid color. These side effects are typically temporary. Allergic reactions are also possible. It’s why it’s crucial to let your provider know your full medical history.
When Should I See the Results from Latisse®?
The results are gradual and begin to become visible in as little as four weeks. Within a few months (about 16 weeks), full growth is complete. It is necessary to continue Latisse® treatments to maintain fuller, longer, and darker lashes. If the treatment is stopped, eyelashes return to their original state within a few weeks or months.
